SKUAST launches AI based app ‘Apple Doc’ for precision farming of apples

Srinagar: At an impressive ceremony held at SKUAST-Kashmir Shalimar “Apple Doc” an Artificial Intelligence based application for precision farming was today launched by Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat Director General Horticulture Kashmir.
The application has been developed by Dr. Basharat Ahmad Bhat at SK-Kashmir Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (SKIIE) Centre of SKUAST-Kashmir with funding support from Department of Biotechnology Govt. of India under BIRAC-BIG Scheme. The launch ceremony was attended by Directors and officers of University, Officers from Department of Horticulture and University Scientists.
Speaking on the occasion Director General Horticulture expressed satisfaction on development of A.I based application that addresses the problems faced by the orchardists and congratulated developer on launch of the first working version of the application.
Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai expressed satisfaction over the development of Artificial Intelligence based tools. He expressed the hope that SKIIE centre of SKUAST-Kashmir would be in a position to incubate many innovative ideas and within a year 10 student startups would graduate into private limited companies. This would entirely change the mindset of the SKUAST-K Faculty and students and graduates produced from University would emerge as job creators rather than the job seekers.
