Rain, snow in Valley

Srinagar: Rain and snow was recorded in Kashmir on Tuesday with meteorological centre Srinagar predicting cloudy weather till January-end.
In the afternoon, rain lashed Kashmir while upper reaches including Gulmarg received snow.
As per the latest weather update from the local MeT department, it was said that the fair to partly cloudy weather would remain throughout J&K till 29th of this month with moderate to dense fog in morning hours in the plains of Jammu.
The officials further said that there would be generally cloudy weather on 30th January with the possibility of light rainfall/snowfall on 31st January in J&K.
Regarding the temperature, the MeT officials said that they are expecting warmer days and colder nights till the 29th of this month.
“There is no forecast of any major weather till the end of January,” the MeT official added
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a low of 1.8 degrees Celsius down from 2.8 degrees Celsius the previous night, officials said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 9.2 degrees Celsius up slightly from minus 9.5 degrees Celsius the previous night.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius down from the previous night’s minus 0.8 degrees Celsius, they said.
The officials said Qazigund recorded the minimum of zero degrees Celsius, while the nearby south Kashmir town of Kokernag recorded a low of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius.
The mercury in Kupwara in north Kashmir settled at a low of 0.4 degrees Celsius.
