Thief arrested by police in Pampore, stolen property recovered

PAMPORE: Pampore Police in Pampore nabbed a thief along with some stolen goods early Wednesday while decamping with these from a hardware shop in Drangbal area.
The police recovered the stolen hardware items from his possession and the vehicle used in the crime was also seized.
According to police a police party from police Station Pampore headed by SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHO Pampore Mohammad Younis Khan during patrolling in Drangbal area of Pampore on Wednesday early morning at 4:am, arrested a thief who was stealing hardware shop at Sumo stand Tanchibagh Drangbal.
Police identified the arrested thief as Zahoor Ahmad Chopan, resident of Khunmoh Srinagar.
He said that stolen items have also been recovered from his possession and vehicle bearing registration number JK04A- 1105 used in the crime also seized.
The arrested thief was shifted to police station Pampore where he remains in custody, a police officer said.
“A vehicle was found suspicious in Tanchibagh area of Pampore, as police was approaching towards the vehicle, the driver started to run away but his bid was made unsuccessful, he was caught by police,”
SDPO Pampore, Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader, adding that on preliminary questions the driver was identified as Zahoor Ahmad Chopan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Chopan resident of Khunmoh Srinagar.
He told Kashmir Reader that when police searched his vehicle they found many hardware items which was stealing from a nearby hardware shop and loading into his vehicle.
” A case under FIR number 06/2022 under section 457 and 380 IPC has registered at police station Pampore, police are investigating who else was involved in the theft and action as per law will be taken against him,” he said.
The owner Rayees Ahmad Darzi said that he received a call from SHO Pampore, that a theft has taken place at my hardware shop at Tanchibagh and a thief has been caught during the act.
He said that police recovered my hardware items that were stolen by the thief.
He appealed to police to investigate the matter thoroughly as they suspect that some of his other accomplices are still at large.
