Vaccination drive for 15-17 age group started in Pampore, 680 doses administered on day 1

PAMPORE: Vaccination drive for children of age group between 15 to 17 was kick started at Saffron Town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
The drive was inaugurated by Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din in presence of BMO Pampore Dr Asma Nazir, RMO Dr Mohammad Ashraf, Medical Officers, Principal girls Higher secondary school Pampore and other officials at government girls higher Secondary school Pampore.
The girl students showed great excitement and turned in large numbers for the vaccination. The health officials told Kashmir Reader that a total of 680 vaccination doses were administered among the children of age group 15-17 in Pampore Block on the first day of vaccination drive.
” All Children falling in the age group of 15 to 17 will be vaccinated on war footing basis. The vaccines will be administered in Schools, coaching centres and at homes to prevent third wave of COVID from emerging,” Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader.
Block Medical Officer Pampore, Dr Asma Nazir told Kashmir Reader that the vaccination drive was started at government girl’s higher secondary School.
” The students turned up in good numbers, some students were hesitant, they were counselled and their parents were also counselled,” she said.
She said that they have target to vaccinate 6800 children in the said age group in Pampore Block.
She said that the drive will continue till 10th of January and from tomorrow it will be launched in Coaching centres and other tuition centres in the areas.
The vaccination drive also held various areas of health block Pampore including Konibal, Wuyan , Khrew, Ladhoo, Lethpora, Barsoo, PHC Awantipora, PHC Samboora, PHC Kakapora, PHC Lajoora, PHC Parigam and other health centres
During the drive, Iron Folic Acid and Albendazole tablets were also distributed among the students.
