Govt Degree College Banihal organizes River Festival

SRINAGAR: NSS Unit of Government Degree College Banihal in collaboration with Department of EVS and Debates and Seminar Committee of the college organized River Festival as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav on the theme “Importance of Rivers and Water bodies” under the overall supervision of the Principal Dr. Manohar Lal.
The event was made possible with the efforts of Prof. Ajay Kumar(NSS Programme Officer), Prof. Ram Parkash (HoD Mathematics), Deepak Kumar (PTI) and Prof. Sajad Ahmed Sultan (Convener, College Debates and Seminar Committee).
On this occasion, an essay writing competition was held on “Importance of rivers and water bodies” in which various students participated with zeal.Students also sang patriotic songs.NSS volunteers visited the nearby rivulet in village Asher/Lamber where they talked with local community for ensuring the cleanliness of water bodies for keeping the environment clean and healthy. They also collected waste, and other rubbish in the form of plastic and polythene, along the rivulet in dustbins and raised slogans like ‘Save Rivers’, ‘Clean Rivers’. In the end, all the collected litter and waste was disposed off in an appropriate manner.
