Online State Level Awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) held

Importance of creativity and innovation in the field of research and technical education emphasised

Srinagar: Government College of Engineering & Technology Safapora Ganderbal and The Institution of Engineers (India) J&K State Center jointly organised an online State Level Awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Intellectual Property India Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade wherein more than 470 persons participated in two different sessions. The Program was held under patronage of Dr. Rouf Ahmad Khan, Principal GCET/Chairman, IEIJKSC.
Guest speaker Mr. M.Atiqullah, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs, Delhi Spoke at length on the importance of creativity and innovation in the field of research and technical education. He discussed in detail about patents, copyrights, trademarks and designs in the modern techno-economic world where only originality and innovation can stand the challenges of time. He interacted with the students to inspire them to work hard and not share their innovative work until it is not patented. He also talked about the history of patents with special reference to the tradition of Intellectual property rights in India. He answered several questions raised by the participants towards the conclusion of the lecture. While interacting, the speaker involved the participants in a fruitful quiz session.
The Program proceedings were carried out by Mr. G.M. Khan, Faculty English, GCET Safapora and coordinated by Mr. Tahir Hussain Baht, Faculty CSE, GCET Safapora.
The Special vote of thanks was presented by Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, Honorary Secretary The Institution of Engineers (India) J&K State Center, Srinagar.
