HAJIN: Noted Kashmiri Sufi poetess Zeeba Zeenat passed away on Friday evening . She was 92.
A family member of Zeeba Zeenat told Kashmir Reader that she breathed her last at her residence in Hajin town of Bandipora after being ill for some time. She was buried at her ancestral graveyard Khos Mohalla Hajin at 1am.
Hailing from Hajin town of Khos Mohalla area, Zeeba was among the famous Kashmiri sufi poet after Lal Ded, Habba Khatoon and Arni Mal. Her demise has created a void which cannot be filled for years, said Shakir Shafi president Halqai Adab Hajin.
He termed her death as an irreparable loss to the field of Kashmiri language, art and poetry .
Zeeba Zeenat was the Member of Halqa Adab Hajin Sonawari and she will be remembered for her contribution in promoting the Kashmiri language.
Halqa Adab Hajin, Wahab Cultural Society Hajin, Wahab Dramatic Club Hajn, Senior Congress leader Imtiyaz Parray, Irshad Ahmad, Shakir Shafi, Azhar Hajini has expressed grief over the demise of Zeeba Zeenat and expressed their solidarity with the bereaved family.
