21 days winter school concluded at SKUAT-K

SRINAGAR: Twenty one days winter school on Geospatial Technology towards Sustainable Future and Development concluded today on 30th November 2021. J.P Sharma Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K was chief guest of the valedictory function. Prof, Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi was guest of honour and DrShamitaMumar, Prof and Vice Principal institute of Environmental Education and Research (IEER) Pune was distinguished guest. The valedictory function was also attended by Prof. Mushtaq Wani, Course Coordinator of Winter School and presented the overview of the programme. The session started with welcome address by Prof Masood Saleem Mir, Associate Director Extension (AS)
Prof. J P Sharma Vice-Chancellor SKAUST-Kashmir conveyed his blessings for all the delegates On-line. Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi Director Extension in his inaugural address explained the importance of remote sensing and gerospatial technology applicable to day to day life and in agriculture and allied sectors. He appreciated the role of prof Mushtaq Ahmad Wani for his commendable job. Director Extension apprised that new technologies are very important and time will come when people will be accessed on the basis of social score card and also said that Govt application – Green India, Lean Ganga, girl child education are all in geospatial technology used by government particularly UMANG. Dr. Shumita Kumar Prof and Vice Principal institute of environmental Education and Research (IEER) Pune in her address explained the importance of remote sensing and said that remote sensing can be used in diverse positioning on the earth surface and described remote sensing and GIS as widely used tools for natural resource management. Dr. Shumita Kumar further said that the pandemic is a turning point for all of us, particularly educators and we should evolve accordingly and be innovative.
The valedictory session was concluded by the vote of thanks presented by Dr. Purshotam Singh Associate Prof Directorate of Extension.
