SKUAST-K commemorates National Education Day-2021

Srinagar: SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir held a special programme at Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura campus, to commemorate National Education Day 2021.
The National Education Day is celebrated to commemorate Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s passion for education and knowledge. The occasion has been marked annually since 2008 to honour Azad and his commitment to furthering education in the country.
The programme was organized to highlight women education, compulsory universal primary education, free and fair education for all children till the age of 14, the importance of vocational education, and making technical education affordable to the masses. It was organized under AICTE-IIC and World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for institutional development of SKUAST-K.
In her welcome address, Prof Rihana Habib Kanth, IIC Ambassador, laid emphasis on capacity building among students in terms of communicating and writing skills. Dean FoA, in his address highlighted the significance of Education Day and paid tribute to Abul Kalam Azad on his birth anniversary. The Dean emphasized that teachers are the true nation builders and this day provides the society an opportunity to thank them and recognize their contribution. Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Sofi made deliberations on the National Education Policy-2020. While Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone said that Maulana Azad’scontribution in laying the foundation of a strong education system will never be forgotten. The participating PG students included Akshay Kumar, Owais Ali, Syed Hujjat Ul Baligah and Insha Jan also expressed their views about National Education Policy NEP-2020 and the role of education in their lives.
