Police arrests two drug peddlers in Budgam, Awantipora

Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Budgam, a police party of Police Station Char-i-Sharief at a checkpoint established at Kakawring Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Maruti-800) bearing registration No JKO4A-7629 with one person onboard. He has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ahsan Bhat resident of Nowhar Char-i-sharief. During checking, officers were able to recover 10grams of Heroin and 400 Spasmoproxyvon capsules from the said vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized.
Similarly, Police Station Awantipora received specific information that a person namely Subzar Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Akbar Dar resident of Kandizal Awantipora has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house. On receipt of this information, a Police party headed by SHO PS Awantipora alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During search, officers were able to recover 35Kgs of grinded Cannabis powder from the said residential house. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated.
