Vigilance Awareness Week: KU organises pledge-taking ceremony

Srinagar: The University of Kashmir on Friday organised a pledge-taking ceremony in connection with the celebration of the Vigilance Awareness Week-2021.
Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir led top varsity officials in taking the “Integrity Pledge for Organisations” that, among other things, urges promotion of ethical business practices and fostering a culture of honesty and integrity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mir said the university, being the highest of learning, becomes a reference point in matters of integrity and honesty. “Therefore, while it may be ritualistic or symbolic to take this pledge today, it is important to convert this symbolism into reality on the ground to become a reference point for good governance, transparency and accountability,” he said.
Dr Mir said when employees discharge their duties ethically and honestly, it helps in enhancing the institutional perception.
“Academic institutions have a far greater responsibility to lead from the front in setting high benchmarks and standards for accountability and fair practices in line with the core objectives of the Integrity Pledge,” Dr Mir said.
The event was organised by the Departmental Vigilance Officer of the University of Kashmir, Ms Asmat Kawoosa, and was attended by top university officers, including Controller of Examinations Prof Irshad A Nawchoo, Media Advisor and Director EMRC Dr Salima Jan, Joint Registrars, Deputy Registrars, Assistant Registrars and other members of non-teaching staff.
