CUK accords warm send off to VC Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir

Srinagar: The faculty and administrative staff of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Saturday accorded a warm send off to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir on the completion of his term in office.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Farooq A Mir, Director R&D, Prof Farooq A Shah, Director IQAC, Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah, Director MPRC, Prof. (Dr.) Shahid Rasool, Deans of Schools, Heads of departments, other faculty members and administrative staff were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the faculty members and administrative staff described Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir as a man of conviction, integrity and repute. “After being appointed as the VC of the Central University of Kashmir, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir worked tirelessly for the overall growth, development and progress of the varsity on all fronts. He ensured that the university shifts from rented accommodations in Srinagar to Ganderbal. Hailing his personal involvement in the recruitment of quality teaching and non-teaching staff, the staff spoke at length about other contributions made by Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir towards the academic scenario of the varsity.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, termed Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir as a man of highest integrity with a great vision and dedication. “The university under the command of Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir has progressed well in the field of academics and this would prove to be a great asset to the state education sector in near future,” said Prof Zargar. He further said that as a mark of a good administrator, Prof. Mir made quality recruitments in the Central University to ensure a good future for the university to grow and serve the society better. Prof Zargar also highlighted the employee friendly and humble nature of Prof Mir.
Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka, speaking on the occasion described the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir as a humble human being who never succumbed to any pressure and delivered without any prejudice.
Addressing the faculty and non-teaching staff, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir thanked them for their support and cooperation. He said that shifting the university was a difficult task and it was achieved with the support of all the stakeholders. He said that during these years, all the employees extended their fullest support and cooperation in launching new academic and research programmes. “The University is growing and functioning in a good way when compared to the Central Universities established along with it,” he said adding “The University will take some time to develop its infrastructure fully, but the fact is that it will become an institution of repute in near future and will cater to the growing needs of students intending to go for higher learning.”
The outgoing Vice-Chancellor asked the employees to work with sincerity and honesty for the development of the institution and wished them best of luck in their future endeavors.
The Vice Chancellor also inaugurated the Moot Court at School of Law, where another farewell was arranged for him by the School. With tearful eyes the colleagues at Law narrated his contribution and conviction to the School of law in particular.
