SKAUST-Kashmir participated in Northern India Regional Agricultural Fair-2021

SRINAGAR: SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir participated in a 5 day long –Northern India Regional Agriculture Fair-2021 at SKUAST-Jammu Chatha.
Under its Vice Chancellor Prof J.P Sharma and team led by Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi six Krishi Vigyan Kendra namely Anantnag,Kulgam, Shopian ,Pulwama, Leh and Kargil II (Zanskar) along with 15 progressive farmers from 5 districts of Kashmir valley and 3 farmers from Zanskar in Krgil district participated in the Mela.
Purshotam Rupala ji Minister Fishries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt.India has inaugurated the Innovative Farmers Conference on 7th of Oct.2021. Union Minister felicitated 3 Padmashree awardee farmers and five national awardee farmers for their contribution in agriculture and service to the community including one from Kashmir Mrs.Zaitoon Begum from Ganderbal.
Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K, along with progressive farmers also participated in fruit, vegetable and flower show on and bagged many awards which includes 1st prize in root crops (onion, potato, carrot, radish, turnip), 1st prize in exotic vegtables (Red cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, Chinese cabbage) ,1st prize in value added apricot , 2nd prize in Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumber, Beet root, tomato,Consolation prize in Zanskari radish, Zanskari turnip and Kargili Karkicho Apple, 1st best farmer award (Eshay Stobdan) for yak butter and yak cheese, 1st best farmer award (Tsering Dorjay) for Doksaw products, 1st best farmer award (Mansoor Ali) for vegetables, Abdul Rehman in Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Ist Prize in Vegetable by Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh from Kupwara. Consolation fruit Show award, Exotic apple varieties award and First fruit grower farmer award.. and many more by KVK Shopian, Anantnag,Kulgam , Pulwamma, Leh and Zanskar.
Advisor to LG Farooq Khan felicitated all the farmers of Kashmir and Zanskar region and appreciated their work. Director ATARI,Ludhiana Dr.Rajvir Singh visited all the stalls of SKUAST-K and was impressed for their display of technologies.
KVK, Shopian bagged Third best Stall prize whereas KVK Leh, KVK Pulwama and Directorate of Extension received appreciation Award in Northern India Regional Agriculture Fair-2021. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts and participation of farmers from remote area like Zanskar and Kashmir Valley.
