Srinagar: SKUAST-K organised a motivational talk by the USA-based herbicide discovery scientist Dr Zahoor Ahmad Ganie at its Wadura campus.
The event was organised by the university’s Faculty of Agriculture under World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of the SKUAST-K.
In his talk, Dr Ganie spoke about his experience as a student at SKUAST-K and how it motivated him for seeking various opportunities at an international level and finally landing him at a top institute as a scientist in the USA.
Dr Ganie talked about the various scholarships and fellowships internationally present for the students. He elaborated in detail about the various opportunities available abroad for agriculture students. In the end, an interactive session was held in which various students participated asking various questions regarding admission and scholarship abroad.
Dr Ganie, an alumnus of SKUAST-K, is presently serving as Global R&D Scientist Herbicide Discovery at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, DE, USA.
About 90 students and faculty members participated in the programme. Among others, Prof Rihanna Habib Kanth, Dr Parvez Sofi, Dr Ajaz Qureshi, Dr A A Saad, Dr Tariq Rasool, and Dr RR Mir were present during the event.
