Programme under Vanijya Saptah celebrated at Skuast-Kashmir

Srinagar: One day programme on Capacity building under VanijyaSaptah (AzadiKaAmrut) for FPOs and farmers for export was celebrated at SKUAST-k Shalimar in collaboration with Directorate of Extension and APEDA under the overall guidance of Prof. J.P.Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir and Jammu. The programme was conducted both in online and offline modes. Director Extension, Director Education and Registrar SKUAST-Kashmir, Deans and Directors, Director General Horticulture and Director Agriculture Kashmir and Deputy General Manager APEDA were present during the inaugural session of the programme. Farmers from District Ganderbal, Budgam, Srinagar, FPOs, Cooperatives and entrepreneurs participated in the programme.
Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension in his inaugural address laid stress on promoting various agri-products for export. He highlighted the role of APEDA for hand holding of entrepreneurs and potential start-ups for augmenting export potential of different agricultural commodities. He stressed for availing benefits of APEDA schemes for better livelihoods under different sectors.
Director General Horticulture highlighted the role of modern postharvest infrastructure for export orientation. He suggested that the grading and packaging should be in tune with international standards and advocated for establishment of modern training schools for the benefit of farmers with the financial support from APEDA.
Director Agriculture Kashmir highlighted the role of research institutes particularly SKUAST-Kashmir on farmer driven research and stressed on making agriculture and allied sectors farmer friendly and remunerative.
Three presentations were presented during the technical session by the experts from SKUAST-Kashmir and Deputy General Manager APEDA with main focus on importance of start-ups and export potential from UT of J&K.
