Director Agriculture reviews functioning of Departmental Farms

Srinagar: To review the functioning of Departmental Farms in Kashmir Division and to take stock of the preparations for Rabi 2020-21, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal chaired a meeting of concerned officers at Agriculture Complex Lalmandi, Srinagar.
Director was apprised of different Rabi plans which were later on discussed threadbare.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture asked the participants of the meeting and concerned officers of these Farms to come up with some comprehensive plans which could play key role in strengthening these Departmental assets in the long term. These Departmental Farms would play an important role in achieving the goal of self reliance in meeting the seed requirements of Kashmir to a large extent, he said, and added.
Talking about the present scenario of these Departmental Farms Mr. Chowdhary directed the Farm Managers and concerned officers that harvesting operations should be meticulously planned and executed. He said Joint Director Agriculture Inputs and Joint Director Agriculture Farms will monitor the harvesting proceedings and the entire activity of harvesting of different crops in these Farms should be done purely on scientific lines. He reiterated the importance of post harvest management and scientific storage of the produce.
Director Agriculture exhorted on the officers that there will be no compromise on already set bench marks in terms of production of different crops from these Departmental Farms. He asked the participants to ensure the production and supply of quality seed to the farmers. Quality Seed is one of the key inputs that plays decisive roles in the successful farming season for a farmer and we are the custodians of farmer’s trust, he said, and added.
Iqbal asked the participants of the meeting to work with zeal and zest for the development of farming sector.
Earlier a detailed presentation regarding the present scenario of these Departmental Farms was given to the Director.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Farooq Ahmad Shah, Joint Director Agriculture Farms Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah , Deputy Director Planning Mohammad Younis Chowdhary ,all the Farm Managers of concerned Farms and other senior officers of the Department.
