Wahab Sahab Gujjar Basti demands macadamised road

Pampore: The residents of Wahab Sahab Gujjar Basti village in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district demanded a motorable road for the habitation.
The Gujjar Bakerwal Conference General Secretary, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal, appreciated government authorities for macadamisation of Shaar Shaali Wahab Sahab road.
“After seeing so many project reports, the road has been macadamised for which we appreciate the government,” he said, adding that good quality material is being used for the road, Poswal told Kashmir Reader.
He also appreciated DDC member of the area, Tazeema Akhter, for raising issues of locals and addressing them.
He demanded that blacktopping the road from Shaar Shaali to Wahab Sahab Shrine was a long pending demand which has been fulfilled but only partially.
“This road should be macadamised up to government school in Gujjar Basti so that people of this far off area can have access to Pampore and adjoining areas,” he said.
He also demanded widening of the road to address traffic jams near the shrine of the famous saint, Wahab Sahab.
“On every Saturday and Sunday people in large numbers visit the shrine of Wahab Sahab, they get stuck in traffic jams for hours,” he said, demanding that the road be widened for decongesting the traffic, Poswal told Kashmir Reader.
District Development Council (DDC) member Tazeema Akhter also visited the Wahab Sahab and Shar Shali and inspected the macadamisation of the road in the area.
She also interacted with locals of the area who demanded that one and half kilometer road stretch from Wahab Sahab to Gujjar Basti be blacktopped.
She told them that the demand is genuine as people face inconvenience in rain and snow. She assured them that she will seek redressal of their grievance.
