KULGAM: The Department of fisheries in Kulgam nabbed two people involved in illegal fishing through electrocution process confiscating their equipment besides imposing fine.
A team headed by Deputy Director-Fisheries, M Sadiq raided the spot at Veshow Nallah and caught hold of two persons red handed while rest of the group members escaped from the spot.
The team brought these offenders to Kulgam and seized the equipment and electronic gadgets used in generating electric current in water, that resulted in killing of fish in water.
On spot a total of Rs 30,000 fine was realized from the offenders with an affidavit of affirmation to not indulge in this illegal activity again.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director Fisheries Kulgam, requested the people to refrain from such activities which are harmful for aquatic life.
