Family demands probe to ascertain cause of death
BUDGAM: A 19-year-old Kashmiri Student from central Kashmir’s Budgam district who was studying in Punjab was found dead after he was found hanging from a solar plant on the terrace of the college hostel.
Umar Dev son of Abdul Ahad Dev, 19 years of age a resident of Chewdara village of the Beerwah tehsil in central Kashmir Budgam, Umar was a third-semester student of BSC Radiology at RIMT university in Punjab.
Abdul Ahad Dev, father of the deceased, told the Kashmir Reader that on 12th September evening, I talked with my son and he (Umar) and he told me that I am okay. I have asked him, if you want to come back home then I will book an air ticket as he was ill 10 days ago.
“We always talked with our son during and on Monday at 10:30 am, some of the villagers came to my home and showed the photo but I could not identify him. The villagers told me that your son has died as his body has been found hanging in the solar plant on the terrace of the college hostel,” a heartbroken Dev said.
He said that my other son along with other relatives and friends booked the air tickets and they have reached Punjab.
He added that his son could never commit suicide calling upon
the concerned police and Government of India agencies to investigate the case properly of my son to prove the cause of the death of my beloved son.
The mother of the deceased alleged that it seems that their son has been murdered, the concerned police and government should investigate the case properly and punish the culprits.
