Sopore: The people of Warpora village of Sopore are up in arms against the department of Jal Shakti, who according to them are badly suffering for the portable drinking water from years, but the concerned department are in deep slumber. On Tuesday a group of women of the village carrying water from other villages alleged that Warpora village is only a few kilometres far from the main town Sopore but their taps are running dry mostly in summer, forcing people to take water from nearby streams which are not able for drinking.
They said that there is a proper pipeline but as the summer starts it went dry and the concern department not resolving their issues.
“We approached the concerned department so many times but they are only promising us and not doing anything on ground,” Abdul Rashid a local of the village, said. The villagers said that they held so many protests in the past but no result.
They appealed to the higher officials of the department to look into the matter and solve their problem.
