Week Long activities under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahautsav by GDC Hajin concluded

Hajin: Government Degree College Hajin organized week long activities, both offline and online, to mark the celebrations of 75th Independence Day, under the theme AZADI KA AMRIT Mahautsav. The programme was coordinated by the college NSS unit and college Debate and Seminar Committee in collaboration with the Sociology, English, EnvironmentalScience and Political Science departments of the institution.
Various activities were held under the sub theme “HEALTHY INDIA –STRONG INDIA”. Regarding the weeklong activities, essay competition on the topic “Suicide-Is it a solution?”was held on 9th August 2021. First three positions were bagged by Saima Jan,WaseemNazir and Insha Akhter respectivelystudents of B.G first semester of GDC Hajin.
On 10th August 2021, a slogan writing competition on theme “Addiction Free India” was held wherein, a number of students participated. First and second positions were secured by Insha Akhter (Istsemester) and Saima Jan (1st semester) respectively.
Vaccination drive and a COVID-19 awareness rally facilitated by Government Community Health Centre Hajin was held on 11th August 2021. In this drive, 75 students and staff members were vaccinated. COVID awareness rally marched from college to Police station Hajin to Community Health Centre Hajin. A large number of students carrying placards in their hands participated in this event, which was highly appreciated by the health officials of Hajin town especially Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Kant, BMO Hajin.
On 12th August 2021 an online extension lecture on the topic “Rethinking Healthy India—Examining the Moral Routines in the Pandemic” was organized. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Irshad Rashid, faculty department of Political Science. The lecture focused on the importance of widening our understanding of what constitutes health and how to make sense of the new morality that emerged amidst these precarious times of the pandemic. Around hundred students across various college of J&K attended the lecture. A campus cleanliness drive was held on 13th August 2021, which was facilitated by Municipal Committee Hajin. The main objective of the programme was to spread awareness about the significance of cleanliness and hygiene. On 14th August 2021, two Bollywood patriotic movies Sarforash and Rang De Basanti were displayed in the college conference hall.
On 15th August 2021, the college celebrated the 75thIndependence Day by hoisting the National Flag and singing the National Anthem in its premises at 7:35 am. The Principal of the institution spoke about the importance of the 75th Independence Day in light of historical perspective and post independence socio-economic wellbeing of the dynamic country. In the event, certificate of participation were distributed among the students and non-teaching staff members of the college who actively participated in the weeklong celebrations organized by college w e f 09-08-2021 to 15-08-2021 under the above mentioned theme.
The college principal, Prof. Huda Galzai and Dr. Fayrooz Ahmad Mir (FalakFayrooz), Assistant Professor Urdu GDC Hajin were awarded Certificate of Appreciation for their extra ordinary services rendered by them during the year 2020 by District Administration Bandipora during the celebration of 75th Independence Day held at Dak Bungalow Sumbal. Pertinent to mention the certificates of Appreciation were presented by S D M Sumbal, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Lone.
