University Level Debate Competition held at SKUAST-K

SRINAGAR: Department of Students Welfare, SKUAST-K organized a university level Debate Competition with the theme. “Brain Train or Brain Drain” here at Shalimar campus of the varsity on Friday.
The Programme was inaugurated by Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, and SKUAST-K in presence of officers of the University, Student Welfare Officers from various faculties, media coordinator of the event and the participating students. In his address, Prof. Sharma highlighted the importance of Debating in the University system. He stressed the need that our students should be job generators rather than job seekers.He congratulated Dean Students Welfare for having chosen such an important topic for today’s Debate.
Prof. M.A.A Siddique, Dean Students Welfare, SKUAST-K in his address emphasized the importance of soft skill Development among students for making them acceptable in today’s world market.
In all 21 students from seven Faculties participated in the Debate while a large number of students witnessed the programme.
Two technical sessions of the debate were held with Directors/Deans as the Panelists. The Ist session was chaired by Director Research, Prof. S.A Wani while the second session was chaired by Director Planning, Prof. N.A.Ganie.
The panelists were assisted by seven Assistant Students Welfare Officers from across the faculties under SKUAST-K. Students were judged by the Panelists and were awarded certificate & Cash Prizes. At the end Dr.SeemiLohani organizing Secretary of the Programme proposed a vote of thanks.
