Govt middle school damaged in fire at Kakapora village

PAMPORE: A government middle school building was damaged in a fire incident in Kakapora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.
The officlas told Kashmir Reader that a fire erupted in a government middle school with seven rooms at Wanpora area of Kakapora on Thursday night.
After getting the information, police team Kakapora, fire and emergency from Kakapora, Pampore, Education department officials and local volunteers rushed to the spot and douse off the flames, he said. Zonal Education Office Kakapora confirmed the incident and told Kashmir Reader that the fire broke out in the middle school building at Wanpora area of Kakapora at 9: 30 pm.
“In the fire mishap, the school building suffered extensive damage,” he said, adding that the seven-room building was mostly made of wooden along with furniture which was severely damaged .
Adding that timely action by fire brigade personnel prevented the blaze from spreading to another building and office record room. “The essential record was kept in an adjacent building and it is safe,” he said.
The cause of the fire is believed to be due to an electric short circuit, ZEO said.
He said that a case FIR has been lodged at police station Kakapora and further investigation is going on.
