Srinagar: Department of Youth Services & Sports, District Srinagar Saturday conducted first ever Down Town Sports conclave here at MPML Higher Secondary School. The conclave was organized in collaboration with District Administration Srinagar.
The programme was interactive and speakers highlighted various issues, requirements for the upliftment of sports in Down Town area of Srinagar.
District Development Commissioner Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad attented the function as Chief Guest. The conclave was attended by Veteran Sports personalities, Teams/Clubs/Academies /young achievers from Shehr-i-Khaas.
Speaking at the conclave, Asad assured sports enthusiasts of every possible support in terms of equipment, infrastructure and general handholding.
He further encouraged the sports person to work hard and bring laurels to Shehr-i-Khaas. District Youth Services & Sports Officer Srinagar Balbir Singh, briefed the gathering regarding the programmes and schemes of the department.
He further stated that so far DYSSO SRINAGAR has registered more than 400 sports clubs in Football, Cricket, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess & Carom during current session and the process is on. Other officers and officials who attended the conclave include Principal MPML HSS Romana Qazi, , Former National Referee and former Joint secretary Sports Council Nazir Ahmad, all Zonal Physical Education Officer of District Srinagar.
DDC facilitated Veterans and young achievers with Awards of Honour. Moreover Sports Kits were also distributed among Football & Cricket Clubs at the function.
