KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today said that the Covid positivity rate in district has declined to 0.29%, even as he appealed the people to continue to follow Covid appropriate behavior and take vaccine to prevent fresh surge.
Speaking to the media at the weekly press briefing on the current COVID care scenario in the district he said presently there are 38 active cases in the district as compared to last week’s 43 cases. “The positivity rate on July 31-2021 was recorded at 0.29% which is on the downside as compared to last week” he added.
He informed that of the 1835 positive cases reported during the second surge, 1889 have recovered till date.
He said that though the number of COVID 19 patients is receding day by day in the district ‘yet we should not lower the guard and continue to follow safety protocols to prevent fresh surge.’
The DC said the only way to keep the Covid at bay is to follow the Covid appropriate behaviour and take full vaccination.
The DC said that 98% of 45 year and above age have been vaccinated and ward wise/ Panchayat wise teams have been constituted for the vaccination of the left out persons.
He informed that Test, Trace, Treat strategy along with Tikka abhiyan are in place and 40 % of the targeted population under the age bar 18-44 years have been vaccinated so far.
He said that due to the inclement weather condition last week the supply of vaccine to far flung areas was disrupted, which has now been restored.
