Annual Machail Yatra cancelled in view of pandemic: DC
KISHTWAR: District Kishtwar is nearing to achieve 100% covid vaccination of persons in the 45 year and above age group, even as the government has cancelled this year’s annual Machil Yatra in view of pandemic threat.
As per the COWIN PORTAL out of total 48706 persons in 45 year and above age group, 47549 (i.e 97.62%) have been vaccinated so far, while ward wise/ Panchayat wise teams have been constituted to vaccinate the remaining 1157 persons, said Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma at a weekly press briefing on Covid management scenario in the district.
He said the administration is aggressively following Test, Trace, Treat strategy along with Tikka abhiyan. He said that presently there are 43 active cases in the district, while the positivity rate recorded till today is 1.77 %. He said against 1874 positive cases reported in the second surge 1815 have been recovered till date. He informed that out of 43 active cases, 05 patients are admitted in hospital whereas the rest are under govt supported medical supervision. “There are 06 micro containment comprising 10 hamlets, while 33 have been de-notified,” he added
He further informed that in view of COVID-19 pandemic and in the larger public interest, the Annual Shri Machail Mata Yatra has been cancelled. However, he said the religious/holy rituals will be performed in strict adherence to covid safety protocols.
He urged the people not to undertake the Yatra for Machail Temple.
