SAC meetings of KVK Pulwama, Shopian held

VC SKAUST-K visits Ambri Apple Research station Pahnoo.

Srinagar: Vice Chancellor SKUAST-KProf. J. P. Sharma chaired the24th and9thscientific advisory committee meeting of KVK Pulwama and Shopian respectively on Thursday at KVK Shopian.
Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-K was the guest of honour on the occasion. Director Research Prof Sarfarz Ahmad Wani was also present at the meeting. Representative scientists from Ambri Apple Research Station Pahnoo, scientists from both the Kendras, officials from line Departments, progressive farmers of Pulwama and Shopian attended the said meeting physically while Development Departments of District Pulwamaattended virtually to share their expertise and suggestions.
The Vice Chancellor in his address congratulated both the KVKs for according high level of maintenance to the Kendra campuses. He emphasized the need to develop adoptable technologies at grass root levels to enhance the farm revenue and farmer’s income and in this regard underscored the need to manage post production losses to minimum through value addition and linking the production system with the market so that the dream of doubling the farmer’s income can be realized and desired to frame a group of progressive farmers at state level so that the farmer led innovations can be documented for its wide publicity among the farming community of the state. While laying stress on popularization of AtmaNirbharYojana, the Vice Chancellor sought identification of pioneer master training Institutions for the KVK Scientists in order to facilitate the masses towards entrepreneurship development.
Director Extension SKUAST-K acknowledged the role of both the KVKs in promoting the farming activities and reaching out to the farmers amid the pandemic. He impressed upon the need to promote cost effective treatment strategies to alleviate the sufferings of the livestock and assured full co-operation to all line departments and KVK’s in the field of mutual interest, value addition, packing and branding of products. He asked the KVK’s to take pro-active role in FLD’s and OFT’s and informed that he will personally monitor FLD’s for better seed production.
Earlier, at the outset, Programme Coordinators of both the KVKs presented their respective annual progress report/work done for the year 2020-21 for review and the action plan for the year 2021-22 for discussion. The officers/officials from line departments and progressive farmers of both the districts shared their experiences, feed back and highlighted the issues.
Later, the Vice-Chancellor along with both the Directors visited Ambri Apple Research Station, Pahnoo where he was briefed about the work being conducted at the station. The visiting dignitary expressed satisfaction with the work of the staff at the station.
