Police arrest 3 drug peddlers in Kulgam, contraband substance recovered

Srinagar: Police have arrested th drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A Police party from Police Station Behibagh at a checkpoint established at Khee intercepted a Load Carrier bearing registration number JK03B-5375 with two persons on board. However, one person jumped off from the said vehicle and managed to fled away from the spot. The other person was arrested and has been identified as Amir Ahmad Teli son of Mohd Ismaeel Teli resident of Humshalibug Yaripora. During checking, officers were able to recover 09kg of Poppy Straw from the said vehicle. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Preliminary investigation reveals the identity of other person as Mohd Hussain Ganie son of Abdul Gani Ganie resident of Yaripora. Efforts are on to effect his arrest.
In another action, acting on specific information regarding drug peddling at Mishipora area of Qaimoh, a Police party from Police Station Qaimoh under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund raided the specific location. During the search, 800kgs of Poppy straw was recovered from the said location. Two persons identified as Ghulam Rasool Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar and Shahzad Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Rajab Dar both the residents of Mishipora were arrested on spot. Vehicle (Load carrier) used to supply the contraband substance from one place to another was also seized. They have been shifted to the Police Station where they remain in custody. However, another person managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect his arrest. Preliminary investigation reveals that the said accused person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Baghaw son of Wali Mohammad Baghaw resident of Redwani Payeen is a notorious drug peddler of the area.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective Police stations and investigations have been initiated.
