JKCCC demand release of money stuck with government since 2014

SRINAGAR: JK Contractors Coordination Committee has called upon the authorities to immediately release the payments for various works carried by the contractors since 2014.
The committee in statement has said that they have played an important role in development works from time to time, but a huge chunk of money for civil works carried across JK from 2014 has not been paid to contractors not only weakening their economic position, but putting them in a lot of distress in these pandemic times..
It said that with Eid approaching the authorities should immediately release the pending payments and top official’s in the department should push the issue fervently and not make empty promises
Adding that Chief Engineers and HoD’s should take up the matter seriously and with urgency so that a sizable number of people dependent on contractors too receive their payments andgive them a reason to celebrate.
The JCCC said that if arrears are not paid to them they will be forced to take drastic steps with the government being responsible for any consequences that emerge.
