Hundreds attend last rites of Director Finance Health

Condolence meeting held at SDH Pampore

Pampore: Doctors at SDH Pampore condoled the demise of Director Finance, health and Medical Education, Mohammad Rafiq, who passed away on Friday at AIIMS Delhi.
The condolence meet was held in the office of BMO Pampore, in which doctors and para medical staff of the SDH participated including BMO Dr Asma Nazir, RMO Dr Mohammad Ashraf and other senior doctors.
The mourners prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
RMO SDH Pampore, Dr Mohammad Ashraf, told Kashmir Reader that Mohammad Rafiq had suffered a brain stroke some days back. He was flown to AIIMS New Delhi last week. He was on ventilator support for some days and passed away on Friday morning.
He is survived by his widow mother, wife and 3 year old son.
The mortal remains of Rafiq were flown back to his home village at Lariv Kakapora area of Pulwama district on Saturday morning.
Later, BMO Pampore and RMO Pampore visited the home of the departed officer and paid condolences to the bereaved family.
Soon after the body reached home , hundreds of people including women’s different parts of the Valley reached his home.
Hundreds of people participated in the funeral prayers. Amid tears he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Lariv.
” Rafiq Sahab was not only a family member in the medical fraternity but a social activist who rendered help to his home area beyond his professional role,” BMO Pampore Dr Asma Nazir said.
” Rafiq Sahab was a dedicated officer who used to pay visits to Pampore block and helped develop basic health infrastructure in the block, ” RMO Dr Ashraf said, adding that his untimely death is a big loss for Pampore block.
Meanwhile, Fallah Behbood Committee Pampore Chief Organiser Mir Murawat Hussain , NC vice president Pulwama President Mohammad Shafi Mir, and saffron growers association president Abdul Majeed Wani also condoled the sad demise.
They expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and termed his death a big loss.
