BARAMULLA: Baramulla police on Tuesday said that they seized two dumpers and five tractors for illegal mineral extraction in Tangmarg and Pattan areas of this northern district.
Police said that under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg
Hilal Khaliq assisted by inspector Shahnawaz Khan SHO Tangmarg, seized two dumpers and two tractors for being involved in extracting minerals illegally in Tangmarg Nala.
Similarly, under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Zaffar Mehdi assisted by inspector Nisar Ahmad SHO Pattan seized three tractors for being involved in extracting minerals illegally in the Pattan area of the district.
Police said that separate cases were registered against both the incidents and further investigation is on. They said that violators are taking advantage of the current situation and are putting the health of thousands of people at risk. Police appealed to the general public to cooperate with police and inform nearby police stations for any illegal activity in their areas.
