SRINAGAR: The Wildlife department on Friday trapped a leopard in the Kalshipora village of the Khansahib Tehsil in Central Kashmiri’s Budgam district.
Sajid Faruk, wildlife officer from the Central control room Srinagar told the Kashmir Reader that one leopard had been trapped alive by the wild department at Kalshipora village during the Friday night time.
“We have collected the DNA samples of the Leopard which have been trapped alive and we always collect the samples of the wild animals through which the department maintains records of the wild animals in the wildlife department and the leopard has been shifted to the Dachigam National Park,” he said.
Faruk said that after the Ompora in which a young girl got killed in a leopard attack district the wildlife teams are already on job and deployed in the district.
“We have already issued the advisory for the general public, so that man-animal conflict should not happen in any part of the Valley,” He said.
“Before one day ago three cubs of the jungle cat were rescued by the wildlife department at Pallar village of the district Budgam,” he said, adding that social media reports about these being leopard cubs are wrong..
Faruk Further said the people should not spread rumors upon the social media platforms creating panic . The media should also verify the information from the concerned officers as the department has already shared the contact number of the wildlife department.
In case any wildlife is sighting the people should contact the wild department. So, the department can reach the spot immediately and catch the wild animal alive.
