74% of above 45 years age group vaccinated: DC Kulgam

KULGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi Ud Din Bhat today during a presser said that the positivity rate has witnessed an enormous decline during the past one week in the district.
The DC said that the coordinated efforts with multi-pronged strategies have started bearing fruits with both positivity rate and bed occupancy witnessing decline at Kulgam. He said the recovery rate has also been increasing each passing day with 89 percent at present in the district.
He said there is a significant improvement in situation and economical activities have been partially resumed in the district, however, strict adherence to covid appropriate behavior is imperative at this stage to prevent further spread of covid and no laxity from any one shall be tolerated.
With regard to vaccination, the DC stated that 74 percent of the population above 45 years of age have been vaccinated and within days the district will achieve a cent percent vaccination target in this age group.
He also added that vaccination for the 18 to 44 years age group will be started soon in the district.
The DC said that the door to door vaccination process is also in place in the district, besides vaccination sites have been increased so that people do not have to face any inconvenience vis-à-vis getting inoculated.
He said vaccines are a safe and effective tool to combat this pandemic and people must avoid paying heed to rumours and fake news, rather they should take the jab at an earliest to prevent himself and his dear ones from contracting the virus.
With regard to availability of Oxygen in the district, the DC said that 1000 LPM Oxygen generation plant at District hospital is functioning properly and adequate bulk cylinders, concentrators are available in the district. On Covid Care Centres (CCCs) established at Panchayat level, the DC said that they have strengthened these 5 bedded CCCs established in all panchayats with Oxygen concentrators and other requisite equipment besides primary COVID related drugs.
He also added that presently there are 1056 positive cases under home isolation in the district and proper follow up of positive patients is ensured besides medical kits are also provided to such patients containing essential medicines.
