Nomad injured in a bear attack in Uri

BARAMULLA: A nomad was injured in a bear attack in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday afternoon.
Official sources said that a nomad from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir was with his flock of sheep and goat in Shaladajan village of Boniyar, Uri when a black bear attacked him.
The nomad identified as Mohammad Mumtaz son of Babu Kiler resident of Poonch district, received serious injuries, some other nomads in nearby forests reached the spot and chase the beast, they shift the injured person to nearby primary health centre Boniyar, where from he was shifted to government medical college (GMC) Baramulla for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, the officials said that the incident took place in the forest areas, however a team of wildlife department will visit the spot and make a report.
