7 civilians injured in blast at Tral bus stand

Anantnag: Seven civilians were injured Sunday afternoon in a mysterious blast which, sources said, was a grenade attack, here in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
One of the injured has been shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for further treatment.
“He is stable but needs some tests to be run, which is why he has been shifted to Srinagar,” a police officer told Kashmir Reader.
The incident took place at around 4:30 pm at the main bus stand of Tral town.
A huge thud was heard in the area and people ran for cover. Seven civilians were left injured, the police officer said.
“We are investigating the matter and are trying to ascertain whether it was a grenade blast or not,” the officer said, adding that the media will be briefed accordingly.
Local sources said that the blast was caused by a hand grenade hurled at government forces deployed in the area. “The grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside, inflicting injuries to many,” the sources said.
The injured were immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital and are stated to be stable. “Only one has been shifted to Srinagar. He is stable as well,” a doctor confirmed.
After the blast, a large contingent of government forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
“A case has been registered and investigation has been taken up,” the police officer said.
