2 notorious drug peddlers arrested by police in Handwara

Srinagar: Police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party from Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint intercepted a vehicle (Estilo) bearing registration number HP26A377 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mohd Gulzar Mir son of Gh Mohi ud Din Mir and Shoib Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Gulzar Bhat both residents of Amargad Tarathpora. During search, officers were able to recover 80 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR numbers 49/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated. It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Gulzar Ahmad Mir is a notorious drug peddler and has major role in involving people towards drug menace especially youth. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
