Pampore: An elderly woman was seriously injured after being hit by vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Barsoo area of Awantipora in Pulwama district on Saturday.
She has been identified as Rashida Begum (50) wife of Abdul Salam Ganaie resident of Wandakpora Awantipora, officials told Kashmir Reader. The mishap took place on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway near Barsoo when the WagonR vehicle bearing registration number JK-3273 hit her when she was walking on the roadside. She received grievous injuries and was brought to Sub District Hospital Pampore for treatment by the driver of the vehicle with the help of local people but the doctor referred her to Srinagar Hospital for specialized treatment, health officials said.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and started an investigation.
