BUDGAM:- Deputy Commissioner Budgam S.A. Mirza while talking to the media today in his routine press briefing said that presently there are still about 2232 active cases in the district, adding that till date 9914 patients have recovered. He said the recovery rate has reached 82%. This is a good indicator as the daily reported cases have gone down. He said that the positivity rate has also gone down enormously and it stands now at 4.05%, however, still there is a 34% positivity rate reported from outside containment areas, Mirza said.
He said efforts from all concerned have been doubled in order to tackle Covid-19 pandemic. He further said that Mobilization of General public has been taken on aggressively through constant awareness methods.
Regarding vaccination status, the DC said that vaccine inoculation of the persons aging 45 and above is going on and till date about 75% target under this group has been achieved. He said now the focus of district administration is to vaccinate the persons of the age of 18 and above that is going on in full swing at all designated 36 session sites. The DC once again appealed to the general public to follow all SOP’s and other guidelines strictly as our district is under Red zone category that compels the administration to impose restrictions strictly wherever these are necessitated, particularly containment zones shall remain in main attention.
Regarding relaxation, the DC clarified that adherence of all guidelines and SOP’s, markets in the district shall follow rotation pattern and 33% shops shall remain open with one open shop out of three on alternate basis. However, stand alone shops shall remain open in 2 session daily. Regarding stand alone shops located in rural areas, he said they shall remain open daily. He said that there shall be complete Corona curfew on Saturdays and Sundays, however, shopkeepers affiliated with essential service trade as already notified are exempted from the restriction provided he added.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad on Tuesday called for strict adherence to the Covid-19 SOPs amid relaxation in covid lock down.
In a weekly briefing to the Media regarding the Management of COVID-19 in the district, Dr Owais said ease in restrictions should not be taken as victory over virus as fight against the pandemic is still going on and there is no room for any sort of laxity. He said the infection is still there and we need to be extra cautious now to avoid getting infected by the disease.
He urged people to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and adopt the covid appropriate behaviour strictly. He said the administration has relaxed the lockdown and allowed opening of shops on a rational basis to avoid large crowds in the market. He appealed to people to visit markets only in case of emergencies and avoid unnecessary visits to the markets.
DC said that the district Administration is working very hard in fighting Covid-19 pandemic and people of the district have extended their cooperation due to which visible decline has been witnessed during the past few days.
Dr Owais said that there are 898 active covid positive patients as on date, out of which only 69 patients are in hospital isolation. He said the administration conducts 1500 to 2000 tests daily and witnesses decrease in the positive cases from 19 percent in May to below 5 percent today.
The DC Bandipora urged the left out population of Bandipora aged above 45 years to get vaccinated as soon as possible to break the chain of corona virus.
He said the vaccine is a very strong weapon against pandemic and rigorous door to door vaccination Drive has been launched to ensure 100 percent coverage of the eligible age group. He said 82 percent of the population has been vaccinated so far.
