‘Amid high positivity rate, Pampore medical block lags behind in vaccination’

Pampore: Pampore Medical block lags behind in terms of number of vaccinated people in Pulwama district.
The information was revealed by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary in a presser at DC Pulwama on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary informed presently there are 2,100 positive cases in the district and recovery rate has improved further by another 3 percent while 32 patients were discharged from district hospital Pulwama in the last 3 days hoping it would get better in the days to come.
He said that despite the high death rate, a higher number of positive cases and containment zones were in this medical block.
“ Only 53 percent of the population in Pampore block has been vaccinated while 47 percent still remains to be vaccinated, he said that efforts need to be put in so that people come in and vaccinate early as it reduces mortality.
He attributed the poor performance of vaccinations to lack of awareness, social stigma and the rumours regarding the vaccination drive.
He said that due to the efforts of district administration under the directions of Lieutenant Governor the recovery rate in the district has increased and the facilities too have been enhanced as the number of beds with oxygen cylinders have been increased.
He lauded the performance of Rajpora Block and Pulwama Block for implementing vaccination drives.
“ Rajpora block has the least number of cases, deaths and infections followed by Pulwama block, “he said, adding that the efforts need a consistency otherwise all the hard work put in would be wasted.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama also impressed upon all stakeholders to follow rosters issued by District Administration and also warned of strict legal action against the violators.
