3 shops, several vending carts, gutted in Handwara blaze

BARAMULLA: At least three shops and twenty two vending carts gutted completely in a late Sunday night fire incident in north Kashmir’s Handwara area of district Kupwara.
Officials said that fire broke out in some vending carts at ‘Sabzi market’ (vegetable market) near old bus stand Handwara on Sunday around 9:30 pm resulting in other standing carts also catching fire.
The people living around the area called Handwara police and the department of fire services who immediately reached the spot and doused the flames.
In this fire incident around twenty two vendor carts got damaged completely while three other shops received partial damage.
On Monday morning the officials of district administration headed by additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Handwara Nazir Ahmad visited the spot to assess the loss. He said that they will formulate the detailed report and will forward it to higher ups for further action.
Meanwhile, people from every walks of life appealed to the administration to help those people who lost their property in the incident.
