Shopian: The father of senior journalist Gulzar Bhat of Shopian , Muhammad Yousuf Bhat breath his last at SKIMS Soura on wee hours of Sunday.
Bhat was admitted there for the last 10 days and was diagnosed with Covid-19, however he had recovered two days ago from the disease. He was laid to rest at the ancestral graveyard at main town Shopian while dozens of people wearing masks and maintaining social distance took part in his funerals.
Bhat beloned to an educated family and has served the society as a literary man.
He was the editor of Awami Moazin that he started with veteran trade unionist and journalist late Abdul Gani Hafiz, founding member of Rising Kashmir from Jammu in 1995 and the paper soon became popular among the political and social circles in the region.
His son Gulzar Bhat is journalist with Greater Kashmir, National Herald besides working as freelancer with DW news organisation, Hindu Business Standard and other national news organisations.
