Heroine worth 50 crore seized in Kupwara, one held: Police

Kupwara: The Jammu and Kashmir police said that they busted a narcotic module on Sunday evening in frontier north Kashmir district Kupwara seizing 8 kilogram of Heroin worth 50 crore rupees and one person was arrested.
In a press conference senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kupwara Dr G V Sundeep on Mondaysaid that, total 28 kilogram of Heroin worth 129 crore rupees seized in the district this year.
He said that following a specific information teams of forces were on high alert from past two three weeks and several searches were conducted, however on Sunday late evening police busted the module and successfully seized 8 kilogram of Heroin worth 50 crore rupees and one person has been arrested and more arrests are expected.
SSP said that the busted narco module was in close touch with Pakistan based operatives and the accused apprehended was tasked to smuggle drugs into Kashmir to extend financial support to the militant outfits in the valley.
He said a special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the case and more arrests and links of this module are expected to come to the fore during the further course of the investigation.
An FIR number 41/2021 under section 8/21 NDPS act has been registered in police station Kralpora against the accused person.
The SSP said that 32 FIR’s have been registered under NDPS acts and 28 kilogram of Heroine with market value 129 crore has been seized in this year while around 45 accused people have been arrested.
