Police arrests 4 drug peddlers in Sopore; psychotropic substance recovered

Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.
A police party from Police Post Putkha along with SHO PS Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established near Wagub Crossing intercepted an Eeco-van bearing registration number JK01Q-1280 with four persons on board. They have been identified as Muzamil Ahmad Lone @Setha son of Late Ghulam Muhammad Lone resident of Wagub Lone Mohalla, Azad Ahmad Sheikh son of Muhammad Arif Sheikh resident of Tarzoo Astan Mohalla, Mehraj din Bhat @Inam son of Abdul Ahad Bhat resident of Amargrah Sopore and Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh resident of Panzipora Lone Mohalla.
During checking, officers were able to recover 666 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon Plus from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 48/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been taken up. Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused persons are notorious drug peddlers and are involved in selling drugs to youth of the area.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
