2 cops suspended, benquiry against SHO Pattan after interrogation video goes viral

BARAMULLA: Two policemen were suspended and an enquiry has been ordered against the Station House Officer (SHO) Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after video of questioning two accused in a murder case went viral on social media.
A video of a woman and her paramour being questioned in custody by police was leaked on social media. Following this, police said “The act of the video is highly unprofessional and unbecoming of a disciplined police.”
Last month, Mohammad Altaf Malik 34, son of Gulam Rasool Malik of Seriwarpora son-in-law of Late Abdul Razaq Ganie of Rengi Pattan was cracked by the police after his wife Tasleem Begum and her paramour Gulam Mohammad Dar of Rengi confessed they murdered Altaf. The duo had killed him in the night hours in the month of March and then threw his body out of the house.
A six-minute fifty second video clip of police investigation into the case went viral on social media sites. It showed the duo being questioned by police officials. Soon after, police took cognisance and ordered suspension of two cops and also initiated enquiry against the concerned SHO.
