Dir Agri Kashmir visits Anantnag, calls for raising awareness about CSS

Anantnag: Continuing the drive to reach out to the farmers of different districts of Kashmir Division Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal took an extensive visit of district Anantnag and chaired a review meeting with officers and officials of the District.
On this occasion Director Agriculture emphasized that awareness with respect to different centrally sponsored schemes & flagship programmes among farmers hold key to the socio economic development of the farming community. He said that the Department is making all the efforts to shape up a knowledge based farming community. Technology undoubtedly is playing a magnificent role in the farming sector but the role of proper awareness can’t be ruled out, he said.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Director chaired a meeting of officers & heard their views & suggestions about the implementation of different programmes and infrastructural needs in the district. Taking note of the suggestions particularly those relating to the making availability of agriculture implements & machinery to the farmers, Director Agriculture directed the Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag to immediately submit a proposal for the procurement of machinery and other agri inputs well in time.
Director Agriculture informed the officers that the department has signed a MOU with JKHPMC for facilitating marketing of surplus produce of farmers. He also said many more MOU’s of such kind are in the offing for the benefit of farmers.
Later Chowdhary visited different Organic Vegetable Clusters, Apiculture DCTC, Mushroom Units & recently installed Micro Irrigation structures and impressed upon the officers and officials to put-in all efforts and professional endeavour for making the agriculture sector glamorous, remunerative and profitable. He instructed the officers and officers for maintaining close contacts with the farmers and educating them about the latest technological interventions in their field of interest so that significant impacts of the agriculture activities are harnessed.
Besides others Director Agriculture was accompanied by Joint Director Agriculture Farms, Spices & Medicinal Plants Kounser Parween, Deputy Director Law Enforcement Kashmir Mohammad Younis Chowdhary.
