DC Pulwama visits Pampore, reviews Covid mitigation measures

Pampore: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary on Wednesday visited Saffron town Pampore and reviewed the Covid-19 measures being executed to contain the virus in the town.
Choudhary held a review meeting with top civil and police officials at Tehsil Office Pampore and directed for strict vigilance to stop the spread of virus in the town.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Awantipora, Mohammad Yousuf, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Awantipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl, Tehsildar Pampore, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, Block Medical Officer, Pampore, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad, SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive officer Municipal Committee Pampore, Mohammad Iqbal, BDO Pampore, Aflaq Ahmad, SHO Pampore Mohammad Younis Khan and several other officials.
During the meeting, Choudhary told Kashmir Reader that since Saffron town is densely populated and a business hub, that’s why coronavirus cases are increasing in the town.
“We will go for aggressive testing to identify the clusters from where this virus is spreading in the town about 275 positive cases active in the town. We will take all necessary measures to stop the spread of virus here (in Pampore),” he said.
He appealed people to shun the casual approach towards this virus and requested them to act as the responsible citizens.
“We should not put our lives into risk. We should act responsible citizens and save ours and the lives of our families. We should adhere to all the required guidelines to stay corona-free,” he added.
Later, Choudhary alongwith SP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf, Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl, Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad and other officials visited various markets including Drangbal, Namblabal and Kadlabal areas of Saffron town to check implementation of SOP’s/ guidelines to combat the 2nd wave of COVID-19.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, two cloth shops were sealed by the officials during the visit at Namblabal area of Pampore which were found violating Covid19 SOPs.
Meanwhile, Authorities of in Saffron town Pampore declared one more area as mini Containment zone after few family tested Covid-19 positive at Sir Syed Colony Kadlabal area of the Saffron town Pampore.
Health department Pampore on Wednesday conducted mass COVID-19 sampling of locals of Kadlabal area.
During the mass sampling 18 detected positive out of 90.
Spike in Covid-19 cases continued in Pampore Medical Block continued on Wednesday as the number of cases almost doubled.
Block Medical Officer told Kashmir Reader that about 120 more cases were detected on Wednesday.
Out of the ninety cases 60 were detected through RAT and 60 were detected through RTPCR.
Block Medical Officer Pampore said that the increase in the number of cases was due to increase in the number of tests being carried.
