SP Awantipora visits Pampore, Khrew takes stock of situation

PAMPORE5: Strict restrictions on the movement of people were imposed across police district Awantipora as part of the administration’s 34-hour Corona curfew amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Police vehicles, fitted with public address system, went around localities of Pampore , Khrew, Awantipora and Tral area, announcing the imposition of strict restrictions for combating the spread of coronavirus.
SP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf visited Pampore, Khrew, Awantipora and Tral areas on Sunday to check the implementation of curfew imposed by administration on Saturday night.
He was accompanied by SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad and other police officials.
SP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf told Kashmir Reader that he had deputed various police parties to keep vigil on those who unnecessarily defy curfew and put theirs and others lives in danger.
He said that from the early morning they had been announcing and warning people not to leave their houses as they could be penalised.
He further requested people not to defy curfew and take law and order situation in their hands.
Strict action would be taken against those violating curfew restrictions,” he said adding that the police personnel were nudging the people with unnecessary chores back and were allowing only those people who had health related issues, other emergencies and unavoidable chores.
Strict restrictions on the movement of people were imposed across Jammu and Kashmir by the union territory administration which announced 34 hour lock down amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
J&K administration announced had announced 34-hour curfew from 8 pm Saturday to contain Covid-19 spread.
