Police arrests drug peddlers in Anantnag, Budgam, contraband recovered

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in series of actions in Anantnag and Budgam have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In Anantnag, officers at a checkpoint established at Nanil intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot and was apprehended tactfully by the alert party. During the search 500gms of Cannabis Powder & 9Kgs of Cannabis Straw was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone son of Mohd Amin Lone resident of Kreedizal Nanil Anantnag.
Similarly, officers at a checkpoint established at Khanabal Chowk intercepted a person namely Nisar Ahmad Ganie son of Ab Khaliq Ganie resident of T.B Shah Harnag and recovered 140gms Charas from his possession.
In Budgam, officers at checkpoints established at Agrikalan and Kawoosa Khalisa intercepted two persons identified as Samir Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Shaban Sheikh resident of Malangam Bandipora and Sameer Ahmed Sofi son of Abdul Rashid Sofi resident of Zainakot HMT Srinagar. During search, officers were able to recover 365gms of Charas from their possession.
All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation is in progress.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
