Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Handwara and Anantnag. 01 kilogram Heroin and 15 bottles of Codeine Phosphate have been recovered from their possession.
In Handwara, a police party of Police Station Handwara at a checkpoint established in their jurisdiction intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK09/0504 with two persons onboard. They have been identified as Javid Ahmad khan son of Dulat Mohammad khan resident of Gund Chubutra and Mohammad Yousf Bhat son of Abdul Aziz resident of Pingroo. During checking, officers were able to recover 01 kilogram Heroin from the said vehicle. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 93/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
In Anantnag, on specific information, In-charge Police Post Janglat Mandi along with his team at a checkpoint established at Brakpora Anantnag intercepted one person identified as Rayees Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Brakpora. On checking, 15 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 95 /2021 under relevant sections of the law stands registered in Police Station Anantnag and investigation was initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
