ANANTNAG: Burhan Wani (Semester III), Adil Hussain (Semester V) and Muneer Aslam (Semester V) bagged first, second and third positions respectively among the male students, while as Ulfat Shareef (Semester II), Shazia Rashid (Semester II) and Suraya Farooq (Semester II) respectively got 1st, second and third positions among the female students in the l road race organised by GDC Kokernag on Saturday.
As many as 31male students and 17 female students took part in the race.
The race for male students was fagged off by college Principal Prof M. Shafi Malik while Prof. Nazir Ahmad Wani, senior-most faculty of the College flagged off the race for female students.
For male participants, the race started from Zalangam Kokernag and culminated within the premises of the College while females started racing from Kokernag Garden up to the College premises.
The participants were received by the Principal of the College.
Medical Officer SDH Kokernag Dr. Aqib Fayaz, apprised the students/participants about the health cum psychological benefits of such events and how these events are beneficial for the society in the long run. He also gave demonstration about CPR technique for the benefit of the participants.
Later, during the reception cum award distribution ceremony Principal of the College distributed trophies and cash prizes among the winners.
In order to boost health and dynamism of the young budding generation, The race was organised by Department of Physical Education, Government Degree College (GDC) Kokernag.
